Venus faces off to teenager mentored by her rival

Venus Williams is thirty three, while Bencic is seventeen, and the combat between them on Sunday was truly exciting. Bencic was the Junior champion of Wimbledon from Switzerland along with French Open Champion of 2013. She had taken part in 2 Grand Slams single matches, while Venus had taken part in 57, just in French Open itself. William’s tournament biography is as long as 15 pages which Bencic’s is just three. Nevertheless, they have a strong connection going on, Bencic was mentored by Martina Hingis, Venus’s rival. Hingis now 33 like Venus is William’s rival for quite a long time, facing her over 21 times.

The Sunday’s game was pretty much dominated by Williams as the bagged the game with a victory of 6-4, 6-1. Talking about Bebcic’s performance Williams commented jokingly that young folks, of late poses great threat. The 17 year old will be taking on another fellow teenager Anna Schmiedlova, Slovakian national, now nineteen in the upcoming round. Williams further commented that she is merely trying to stay alive and play on as an older player.

Bencic however commented that she wasn’t at all intimidated by Venus and had enough tips to take on the ace tennis star from her coach and mentor Hingis. Two year before, she had already faced Williams once when she was 15.
She further added that she is quite confident that she can compete on a big court now and take on major contenders of the game. Bencic, now ranked 81, seems most confident about her gameplay.
Nevertheless, Williams experience showed clearly in her game as she bagged the game easily. Although Bencic got a break in the 5th game of the last set, but Williams easily broke her the moment Bencic lost her focus.
