FEDERER BACK IN ACTION

Roger Federer is going to be back in action in the German Open which will be played at Hamburg. The Swiss superstar is desperate to make his mark after having a dreadful Wimbledon Championships recently.

Federer had been stunned by Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine in the second round of the Wimbledon Championships.

Federer wants to put that defeat out of his system as soon as possible. That’s why; he has decided to be back in action soon.

Federer has had a fantastic record in the German Open. He has played a total of 33 matches in this tournament so far out of which he has won 29. He has been the champion here 4 times in the past.

Talking to the reporters after arriving Germany, Federer said, “I have fond memories of this venue. I have done well here in the past and it’s probably the right place to come after suffering an early defeat in Wimbledon.”

“I just hope that I keep doing well in this tournament. I am desperate to get back to top form.”

That second round defeat in the Wimbledon Championships has affected Federer’s World ranking. He has moved down to no. 5 which is his worst ranking in the last 11 years.

In the German Open, Federer has been given a bye in the first round. In the second round, he will take on the local boy Daniel Brands.

Brands made his way into the second round by beating Paolo Lorenzi of Italy yesterday.

The match between Federer and Brands is going to be played at Hamburg centre court which has the capacity to accommodate more than 13,000 spectators.

It is expected to be a full house as Federer is a very popular player in this part of the world.
