SERBIA MAKE FINAL

Serbia has made it to the final of the Davis Cup by securing a close win in their semi final tie against Canada. Serbia won the tie by 3-2.

Serbia was looking in a spot of bother at one point of time. At the end of the second day, they were down by 1-2 and their chances of making it to the title round were not looking that good. But, they managed to turn things around in the reverse singles.

Talking to the reporters at the end of the tie, Janko Tipsarevic said, “We have to face a very tough opponent in the final. Czech Republic has got a couple of fantastic players. Tomas Berdych is one of the world’s top players and then, there is Radek Stepanek who has had a great record in Davis Cup. But, we also have got the resources to tackle them. Novak and Nenad are in great form and hopefully, Victor will be back as well for the final.”

When asked about his win against Vasek Pospisil in the second reverse singles, Tipsarevic said, “I think I could have won much more comfortably than that. But, I wasted a few chances. Nonetheless, a win is a win. Serbia makes it to the final round and that’s the most important thing.”

Novak Djokovic who was also present in the press conference was looking extremely satisfied as well. When asked about his victory against Milos Raonic, the world no. 1 said, “I played my natural game right from the start and I was focussing more on the return shots. That was vital.”

The coach of the Serbian team, Bogdan Obradovic, lauded his team for bouncing back after being in a weak position. Obradovic said, “It’s a tremendous effort by the boys. To bounce back and win after being down by 2-1, it’s terrific.”
