ZVEREV AND THIEM WELCOMED IN CHINA

Rising tennis stars Alexander Zverev and DomincThiemhave received excellent reception in China as they appear for the Shenzhen Open and the Chengdu Open respectively.

Zverev is the top seed for the Shenzhen event. He joined David Goffin, MischaZverev and Paolo Lorenzi at the Players’ Party as they continued the tradition of leaving their handprint in a piece of artwork. Alexander held a clinic for players in an academy when he visited the Shenzhen Grand Gemdale Tennis Club in Pingshan.

Others were involved in various events at the Shenzhen Open. Lorenzi for example played Jeremy Chardy in front of the tournament hotel to launch the tournament. Doubles event participant Alexander Peya and Marcelo Melo played with kids and took photographs with the excided fans. China tennis star Ze Zhang and DudiSela of Israel participated in the draw ceremony for the tournament.

Thiem on the other hand joined Karen Khachanov, AndrevRublev and Albert Ramos-Vinolas at the Players’ Party for Chengdu Open. There were also side events in promoting the tournament.

Marcos Baghdatis and BornaCoric showed off their culinary skills as they tried to make dumplings. Jared Donaldson and Mikael Ymer took a trip to Wangjian Lou – a cultural attraction site in the city. They learned calligraphy and play tennis in the park.

Rave of the moment Wu Yibing attended the draw ceremony for the tournament. Yibing is making waves in Chinese tennis as he is the youngest man in the country to win the ATP Challenger Tour circuit just after victories in the singles and doubles category of the US Open Boy’s event.
