Tsonga Falls To Djokovic
Novak Djokovic has entered the round of 8 in the ongoing French Open. He crushed his French opponent Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the straight sets yesterday.
This is the 20th consecutive major event in which Djokovic has made it to the quarter finals. It tells a thing or two about his form in the last few years.
Djokovic has won quite a few Grand Slams in his career till now, but, he is yet to achieve glory at Rolland Garros. He has been in the final at this venue once i.e. in 2012, but, he had got beaten that time.
The Serbian superstar is desperate to join the club of those players who have won all the 4 Grand Slams. For that, he needs to win his next 3 matches and the kind of form he seems to be in, it should not be that difficult for him.
As far as his match against Tsonga is concerned, it was totally one sided. He never appeared to be in any sort of trouble. He just kept playing his shots with excellent timing and ended up winning in just about 90 minutes.
This was the 17th match between these two players and Djokovic defeated Tsonga for the 12th time.
In the next round, Djokovic will be up against the Canadian player Milos Raonic who reached the quarter finals by beating the Spaniard Marcello Granollers.
The one player who can stop Djokovic from completing career Grand Slam is Rafael Nadal who had defeated him in the 2012 final as well. Djokovic is set to face him in the final this time around too if any major upset doesn’t happen.
So, the next week in the French Open is going to be filled with excitement; that’s for sure.
